Gabon, 31 May 2016Cecile Bloch led the team getting the arrest of a sea turtle shells trafficker with 16 shells. He sold a similar quantity just before the arrest, showing the contraband sleazed is just a snapshot of constant intense illegal trade. The operation was carried in a push to get operations still in May month.

Unfortunately, current conservation efforts are still struggling to keep up with the pace of these threats, but the tide may be turning, as two dedicated marine biologists, with the support from the US Fish and Wildlife Service, are standing up for the elusive species that is also called “Mami Wata” in Cameroon.

Gabon, 23 May 2016An ivory trafficker arrested in Port Gentil with 4 tusks, weighting 5 kg, in a joint operation of AALF team and Police. He was caught red handed when he was trying to sell the tusks, cut in 8 pieces and hidden in a bag. He was claiming, that he shot the elephants by himself in self defence, but the investigation uncovered that he is a trafficker with connection to a wide ring of criminals.
