2 traffickers arrested with 28 African Grey Parrots

2 traffickers, one of them a corrupt military officer, arrested with 28 African Grey Parrots, an Allen’s Swamp Monkey and a Spot-nosed Monkey. One of the traffickers is a military officer in the Republican Guard. The animals were held in a tiny cage in horrible conditions and kept outside of a bar that belongs to the military officer. He used his status to protect illicit activities including the illegal trade in African grey parrots and planned an animal park trading wildlife. The parrots were stored in deplorable conditions. Following the seizures, the Jane Goodall Institute brought in a team of veterinarians who took charge of the animals and flew them to the Tchimpounga Sanctuary for appropriate care and support.
